In this course, you will be taught basic obedience, dog psychology, and how to teach group and private obedience classes and how to structure Board & Train programs.
Students will learn the rules for AKC obedience. Student skills and understanding will be enhanced by attending and observing Group Obedience Classes, Board & Train check-out training and Private Classes or Consultations with customers.
Each student must bring one untrained dog to work as an obedience trainee. In addition to working their own dog, students will be provided several rescue dogs to train. This provides a large variety of of personalities and issues from which to learn.
Students must demonstrate basic dog obedience skills with the dogs that they have trained. A written and oral exam is also required to complete the course.
